The Merchant Taylors' Company seeks to provide meaningful moral support for the Affiliates, collectively and individually, by creating on a structured and transparent basis within the Company and its Schools an awareness of the roles and activities of the Affiliates.
The affiliation started in 2003. HMS Heron (Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton) is responsible for Operational Flying training for Naval rotary pilots and Lynx observers. It is the home base for the Royal Navy's maritime helicopters. The air station has a total of 150 aircraft and is staffed by some 3000 personnel, 300 of whom are civilians.

Army Air Corps
The Army Air Corps consists of five operational regiments, two training regiments and one reserve regiment. It also has a number of independent squadrons and flights.
The Army Air Corps is one of the smallest combat arms in the Army, but its fleet of helicopters makes it one of the most potent. Providing firepower from the skies, it has a unique role to play on the modern battlefield by delivering hard-hitting support to ground forces. The affiliation was agreed in 2001.

The London Regiment
The link with the Company dates back to 1888 with an affiliation with the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment). Since 1968, the various defence cuts have seen the Royal Fusiliers amalgamated and their territorial Battalion become a company, which is now part of the newly formed London Regiment. The Fusilier connection is their C Company (City of London Fusilier) which has its base in Balham.
HMS CATTISTOCK has replaced HMS CHATHAM as the RN ship affiliates to Merchant Taylors’ Company. It is an affiliation, which is slightly different to most, because of the regular flow of Mine Countermeasures Vessels’ crews moving within their squadron.
