The Merchant Taylors' Foundation awards grants to charities and community organisations which tackle some form of disadvantage and operate exclusively in the London boroughs of Hackney, Lewisham, Southwark and Tower Hamlets. The Foundation also awards educational grants across England and Northern Ireland.
Merchant Taylors' defines disadvantage as any form of limiting factor that prevents an individual from reaching their full potential or enjoying a fulfilled life. The scope of this aim invites a wide range of organisations to be supported, impacting a wide variety of people.
Organisations tackling housing insecurity, prison rehabilitation, food poverty, domestic abuse, or which support mental and physical health include some of those awarded grants in the past.
Merchant Taylors' Foundation supports educational charities and programmes so that anyone striving for a better future, can achieve it.
The Foundation makes grants that benefit a wide range of age groups and educational projects: from transformational bursaries and well-being initiatives in schools to community-based music-making and training programmes for ex-offenders.
